Recently we have been shocked to see insensitive construction work doing ever more damage to the natural and historical texture of Cappadocia, one of the world’s most precious places and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its unique geological formations as well as its wealth of historic buildings. We are certain that every single person, regardless of their political views, must be worried about the terrible consequences of all this damage.

We cannot stay quiet about this transformation of Cappadocia into a concrete pile. As members of local conservation organizations and individuals living in Cappadocia, we are raising our voice in an effort to stop this destruction and to raise public awareness of the fragility of Cappadocia’s beauty within the legal frameworks. We have started this petition to attract the attention of the local authorities such as the Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection Board in Nevsehir and particularly the Ministry of Tourism.

Whether you live in Cappadocia, whether you have visited the area or not, if you are sensitive about the world in which you live you will want to leave an equally livable world to your children and grandchildren.
