Avanos Culture and Art Association was established in 2006 and in February 2009 it changed its name into Avanos Potters’ Association. The aim of the association is to solve any kind of problems that Avanos pottery faces. In addition it aims to create spaces for potters of Avanos to exhibit their skills and accumulations as well as to contribute their economy by finding new markets for them. Overcoming the lack infrastructures of potters, introducing, developing, protecting and promoting the other cultural, artistic, historical and natural values of Avanos is also among its aims. Until today, the association organized many exhibitions, symposiums and concerts and participated in many activities to represent the potters of Avanos. We had an interview with Nilgün Salmaner, the chairman of the board, Yaşar Topçu and Özgür Küçüktülü, the members of board, about the work and objectives of the association as well as the problems of Avanos pottery.
