In none of the other parts of our country the relationship between human being and stone is not as lively and productive as it occurs in Cappadocia. The ones who do not know the real life of Cappadocia may think that we are exaggerating. However for the people of Cappadocia the stone has a special meaning, more than we think. Ginormous underground cities, graves, churches, houses, tandoori ovens and barns all of them were engraved into stones. You may even extend this list. The stone is always with you in Cappadocia, you cannot detached yourself from it. This life style created a stone culture and art from architectural decorations to our necklaces and knickknacks in our houses. Today the objects made of onyx marble are the good examples of this culture and art. Onyx marble, being used for creating decorative tenancy objects, also being used to make vase, ashtray, pencil tray, name plate, candlestick, knickknacks, animal shape decorative objects, coffee cups, various jewelries, boxes, key holders and chess set, etc. Since 1980s, due to the development of tourism in Cappadocia, the productions started to address the tourists' appreciations and new techniques for quality, presentation and marketing were developed.
