The raku technique was developed in Japan 400 years ago and the technique keeps experimental and surprised results in glazing. Raku means comfort, pleasure, delight and joy in Japanese. Since the raku technique enables improvisational effects and since each of the products have their own features, this technique is being used all around the world by ceramic artists. In recent years, in Turkey the usage of raku accelerated. 20 years ago in Turkey, raku was only implemented in universities to teach and it could be found only in exhibitions. As yet it did not have any commercial attribution. The theme of this article is the interview that we had with Tayfun Küçükcan who is a live witness of raku development in our country.
