The story started by Nuray & Selim Yüksel’s buying an old house in Ürgüp in 2000; as time passed the couple turned the old house into an elegant cafe and they hanged out the Ziggy’s name plate without any hesitation about the name. Ziggy, an airdale terrier, is one of their close friends with whom they lived together for 9,5 years. Its name was inspired from one of David Bowie’s albums called “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars”.
The decoration style of Ziggy, opened in April 2007, has been planed to give you both freedom and tranquility. The antique sofas and furniture have taken their places in the inner part of the Cafe. If you look at the bird motives which have been used quite a lot in the decoration, the independent spirit that you have inside might start fluttering. At the same time, relaxation is being hidden among the colors used in the decoration. The bergeres have been placed in front of the fire place for the ones who would like to indulge themselves with the dance of the fire. Ziggy’s music archives can smoothly make happy the jazz lovers. The ones, who like to be out, could find their places in the scenery terraces and easily focus on Ürgüp and Erciyes Mountain. Briefly, the place is very nice and a perfect place to have a rest and to chat.
The artfulness, under the management of Ali Ekber Özkan, experienced chief, is immediately being noticed. All kinds of salad and pasta are being prepared for you with fresh ingredients and served with pure and classy dinner sets; all is very delicious. But if you insist on the specialty, you should make your choice with ‘veggy salad’ with hellim cheese or ‘fettuccine’ with bacon. Also the Turkish antipasto kinds are excellent. If you are not hungry, do not worry, take your beverage or soft drink and then dive into the joy!
At the entrance of Ziggy’s there is a boutique for jewelry lovers; moreover the jewelries are hand made by Nuray Yüksel, mistress of the Cafe. I put a flea on your ear!
