Avanos Municipality initiated “Avanos-Kızılırmak 1^st Culture and Art Days”, hosting more than twenty writers and artists, on March 8, 2010. The event, which will be organized to support the social life in Avanos, will include every week interviews with guest writers, movie days, open air concerts, pottery competitions, Ramadan amusements and live music at the bazaar square during the evenings. Besides, the writers and the artists who will participate in the event will be the guests of Avanos Municipality and during their stay of 1 and 4 days they will have the chance of visiting around. Among the writers participating in the event, lasting until October 02, 2010 there are Buket Uzuner, Ataol Behramoğlu, Ahmet Ümit, Hilmi Yavuz, Alev Alatlı, İskender Pala, Nihal Bengisu Karaca, and Mustafa Armağan. We had an interview with Dr. Mustafa Körükcü, the mayor of Avanos about this attractive project.
